Emerald Development and Economic Network (EDEN)
information provided by: Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health Board
EDEN is a private, nonprofit housing development agency whose purpose is to increase the number of decent and affordable housing units available in the community for persons who are disabled and on a limited income. EDEN uses a multifaceted approach in the accomplishment of its goals: direct ownership – EDEN purchases, renovates, and then leases housing units; partnerships with the private sector – EDEN works with private developers and contractors in the community to increase the number of housing units in Cuyahoga County; housing assistance program – EDEN administers rental assistance funds, sent directly to landlords, enabling eligible tenants to choose to live in existing units anywhere in the Country. EDEN is also the administrator of the federally funded Shelter+Care program.
EDEN also works with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority to expand housing opportunities for persons with disabilities through the Section 8 program and families reunifying with their children that are linked with the Department of Children and Family Services.
